Diogenes lifestyle
Philosopher Diogenes from Sinop spent almost all his conscious life in a city dump. He did not write any works, his statements were remembered and recorded by other people. Diogenes did not have any kind of activity, property or permanent residence. Sometimes he slept in temples, sometimes in a barrel, laying leaves.
Diogenes believed that nature gave man everything he needed. He sought to communicate more with different people, he loved to criticize and engage in disputes. He ridiculed even Greek traditions or famous people, which shocked ordinary Greeks. However, Diogenes was never punished for this. The philosopher himself believed that in this way makes people think more. Cynically, Diogenes spoke out about himself.
Diogenes lived in a barrel precisely because it corresponded to his general principle of life in unity with nature. He intentionally refused all benefits and amenities, the absence of which other people would perceive as deprivation and poverty. Diogenes even tried to abandon the culinary processing of food, but this did not have all-round success. He walked almost naked, hardened in the snow in winter. He believed that civilization and culture should be destroyed, because he has the right to exist only that corresponds to nature.
