The scientist’s career began from the time of his student days. Ryzhov did not stop working until the last days.
Childhood time
Yuri Alekseevich was born on October 28 in Moscow in 1930. From childhood, the student was fascinated by mathematics, physics, he loved the design and reading of books. Ryzhov graduated from the capital's Medvednikovskaya gymnasium.
His classmate was the future famous physicist and mathematician Viktor Maslov. Both found common interests, the boys became friends, often preparing for classes together. Since special talents distinguished one and the other, together they never got bored.
The school taught French and German. According to Yuri Alekseevich, both of them were not useful. However, Ryzhov, already a renowned scientist, had to learn English independently to work.
In high school, Yuri Alekseevich was fascinated by astronomy. He dreamed of becoming the discoverer of all the secrets of the universe. Among other features, the future academician perfectly possessed his left hand. Like the great Leonardo da Vinci, Ryzhov had the unique gift of symmetrical writing with both hands.
This ability was discovered due to the fascination of the future famous scientist with painting. At school, left-handedness was considered a disadvantage and children were retrained, forcing them to act with the right. As a result, the future academician fully learned to use both limbs, and both hemispheres of his brain turned out to be active.
After an excellent completion of his studies, Yuri Alekseevich, dreaming of a serious profession, chose the prestigious Moscow University for further education. He became a student at the Physics and Technology Institute. The entrant passed the entrance exams superbly and was among the students of the aeromechanical faculty.
Scientist career
Ryzhov was among his best students. From the second year of MIPT, the research activity of Yuri Alekseevich began. Through experiments, he was able to prove many theories.
At this time, he began his studies at the TsAGI Zhukovsky Research Institute. Young talent engaged in the study of aeromechanics of rockets. In 1948, the scientist Petrov drew attention to a young colleague and noted his outstanding abilities.
Ryzhov was offered a place in the laboratory. So the student became an employee of the Keldysh Research Center, where he was engaged in high-speed aerodynamics. Then there was a sharp turn of his biography.
In 1960, Yuri Alekseevich began working as an assistant professor in the capital's aviation institute. Opportunities opened before him the broadest. A promising scientist made an excellent career, quickly becoming a professor. The next step was the pro-rector position at the Moscow Aviation Institute.
The Academician of Sciences proved to be an excellent organizer. In 1982, he secured the faculty the first computer for collective work. Then it was a real miracle, but even in a single copy the machine was able to have a noticeable effect on the quality of training.
Later, again at the request of Ryzhov, the institute received the latest computers. In 1992, Yuri Alekseevich left his post at the Moscow Aviation Institute. However, in 1999 he returned, becoming the rector of the institute.
From 2003 to 2017, the scientist worked as the head of the department of aeromechanics of aircraft. The future academician has been studying the aeromechanics of supersonic speeds since the time of college. Later, in this area, he defended his thesis, becoming a doctor of technical sciences.
