At the same time, personnel losses were minimal. For the shown heroism and personal courage, Captain Aushev was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in the spring of 1982. In the fall of 1986, Ruslan was seriously injured.
After returning from Afghanistan, Colonel Aushev was sent to the Far Eastern Military District. In the early 90s, Ruslan Sultanovich became a People’s Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, in 1993, Aushev was elected president of the Republic of Ingushetia. The formation of a new subject of the federation took place in difficult political and economic conditions. I had to work tirelessly. Political career was not always favorable. In December 2001, Ruslan Aushev prematurely resigned as president.
