Instruction manual
1
Think of an idea for your sculpture. In order to clearly imagine it, a light sketch on a piece of paper with a simple pencil can help.
Decide on the size of the sculpture, and the material. Plasticine is suitable for a beginner. Unlike clay, clay does not dry out and does not harden, and work can be done for a long time. Height will fit somewhere around 30 centimeters.
Saw off a sheet of plywood 15 by 15 centimeters. This will be the pedestal of your sculpture.
Make a frame of thick aluminum wire. Bend the lower ends of the frame and nail them firmly to the plywood. The frame should repeat the movement of your future sculpture and match its proportions.

2
Stick plasticine around the frame. Sketch the bulk of your sculpture. Clad the frame well, clay should grasp it tightly.
Handle the mold with sculpted wooden stacks. After gaining the main masses and adjusting the proportions, specify the details.
Find salient features.
Walk around the sculpture, look at the top and bottom. The sculpture should look from all points. In contrast to the figure, the sculpture is three-dimensional. Do not forget this. Constantly check the part that you sculpt on all sides.
Take a close look at the sculpture. Its parts must be balanced. She de must not tumble forward, not backward, not to one side. Track the reference points of the sculpture.
Find the axis of symmetry. Check if your sculpture is symmetrical. Trust your eye, but remember to check your measurements with a pair of compasses, or a stack.

3
Find a sculpture composition center. If you are making a human figure, then most likely it will be a face.
Work out the composition center more carefully. Stick parts. Also, but with smaller details stick the details throughout the sculpture. It can be folds of clothing, buttons, a belt, or wool in an animal.
See if the details have broken the basic shape of the figure. If somewhere you see that you are too carried away by the details, overdone, generalize them slightly with your finger or stack.
If the sculpture is a success, and you really like it, you can think about immortalizing it. Plasticine is not a reliable material. The easiest way is to cast it in plaster or bronze. Well, the most beautiful and complex sculpt in marble.
Good luck and success in your work!

Useful advice
Use only sculpted clay. It is one-color and will not distract from the form. In addition, it is cheaper.
If the frame is not strong enough, it can be strengthened with a thick metal wire in the center.
