The spiritual path lies at the heart of any religion. Each person who adheres to one or another faith must lead an appropriate righteous lifestyle. The postulates in the formation of this lifestyle are the commandments. Not surprisingly, they are similar in different religions. In Christianity and Buddhism there are ten of them.
Christian commandments.
In Christianity, very serious importance is attached to the correct understanding of God, the correctness of prayer to him. Man is a servant of God. That is why the first four commandments are devoted to the description of the relationship between God and man.
The first four commandments reveal monotheism, an attitude towards God, the existence of other gods is denied, idol worship is forbidden, the use of the Lord’s name in vain.
The Creator, the main aspects of faith, are brought to the fore in Christianity.
The fifth commandment reveals the attitude towards parents, calls to respect them, as the Lord commands.
The last five commandments relate directly to the lifestyle that a righteous Christian should lead. They condemn murder, theft, adultery, slander, envy. These acts are considered sinful.
Buddhist commandments.
The Ten Commandments of Buddhism can be divided into three main parts. The first refers to the body, the second to speech, the third to thoughts. The basis of Buddhist practice is a kind and loving heart. To make it such, do not commit ten unseemly actions.
The first three evil acts that the Buddhists urge to abstain relate to the body. This is murder, theft and sexual licentiousness.
Buddhism pays great importance to correct speech. After all, four whole commandments are connected with it. This includes lying, slandering and fanning hostility, rude speech, idle talk or talk about stupid things.
The last three commandments are aimed at creating the right mental attitude. It consists in getting rid of greed, a desire to harm someone, as well as from false views.
The nine Buddhist commandments are dedicated to morality, actions that should not be performed in order to find a good, loving heart. The tenth commandment tells of faith itself.
Only the tenth commandment of Buddhism speaks directly about religion, about faith in the law of cause and effect, the existence of Buddhas, future and past lives.
