He staged performances in various theaters: in the Moscow Art Theater, in the Riga Russian Drama Theater, in the Moscow Theater. Pushkin and others. In the latter, he was also the artistic director. Biography
Roman Kozak was born in the city of Vinnitsa in 1957. His family was not related to the art world, so he did not immediately come to the theater. Following the example of his peers, Roman entered a technical university and was educated as an electrical engineer. However, the techie did not work out of him, and he enrolled in the course of the famous actor Oleg Efremov at the Moscow Art Theater School.
Later, Kozak said that it was Efremov who gave him all the knowledge that was useful in the skill of the actor. And that Oleg Nikolaevich made an invaluable contribution to his formation as a director.
Career
With a new diploma in 1983, Roman joined the Moscow Art Theater as an actor. However, even then he liked to stage performances rather than play them, and in his free time he worked in the theater-studio "Man", which was distinguished by its creative pursuits. Gradually, from acting, he completely switched to directing.
His first production, entitled "Chinzano", was released in 1987, followed by the play "Elizabeth Bam on the Christmas tree at the Ivanovs" (1989). The audience of the work of the young director received warmly, and this inspired him to further work.
In 1990, Kozak founded the theater "Fifth Studio of the Moscow Art Theater" and marked its opening with a production of "Masquerade" according to Lermontov.
Roman Efimovich in life was lucky with changes and movements - already in 1991 he took the post of chief director of the theater named after K.S. Stanislavsky, then staged performances at the Riga Russian Drama Theater. He did not cease to cooperate with the Moscow Art Theater, but if he was invited to some interesting project, he always agreed.

As a leader, Kozak simply saved the Pushkin Theater, having carried out radical transformations in it. He initiated a change in the charter of the theater, removed six performances from the repertoire, brought novelty and creativity to the life of the theater.
