Biography
Richard Kruspe was born in eastern Germany, in the town of Wittenberg. He was called Link at birth, but as a teenager he decided to change his name to Richard, believing that "everyone should be able to change their name." He has two older sisters, and two older brothers.
His parents divorced when he was ten years old, and soon his mother married a second time. Richard did not have a relationship with his stepfather. Because of this, he often ran away from home as a teenager and even slept on park benches. In order to get rid of anger, Richard went to the wrestling section.
Acquaintance with his main instrument occurred when Richard and his friends went to Czechoslovakia. There he bought a locally produced JolanaIris electric guitar. At that time he was sixteen years old. He originally planned to sell the guitar because they were very expensive and scarce in Germany.
However, when the students returned home and decided to have a party in honor of the birthday of one of their friends, and Richard went there with his new guitar, an unknown girl asked to play, but he said with embarrassment that he did not know how to do it. The girl continued to insist. Richard began to try to extract sounds from the guitar. “The harder I played, ” Richard said, “the more she liked it.” This episode prompted the future famous musician to the idea that girls like guys playing the guitar. Therefore, Richard every day began to spend several hours on boring and grueling exercises.
Creation
In 1989, Richard assembled the band Das Auge Gottes, where they mix rock with the fashionable "Berlin" techno sound. At the same time, he begins to work closely with vocalist Thiel Lindeman, bass player Oliver Riedel and drummer Christoph Schneider. They decide to found a group and take the name Rammstein.
In 1995, the band with freshly composed songs Dasalte Leid and Seemann won the competition for young artists in Berlin, thereby obtaining the right to record in the studio. Having decided to expand their composition, they take on their second guitarist Paul Landers and keyboardist Christian Lorenz. With this composition, the guys recorded the album Herzeleid, which Jakob Helner undertook to produce. Well, then a deafening career, known to all rock lovers, was waiting for them.
