This slender and short Kazakh girl in battles with the Nazis showed miracles of courage. Aliya Moldagulova herself volunteered to beat the enemy, although she could well work in the rear. Masterfully mastering the technique of sniper shooting, Aliya managed to destroy 78 enemy soldiers. However, the girl did not live to see the Victory Day: in one of the fierce battles, she died after being wounded.

From the biography of A. Moldagulova
The sniper girl, who became famous during the years of confrontation with the Nazis, was born in a Kazakh family on October 25, 1925. Her homeland is the village of Bulak, located in the Aktobe region (now it is Kazakhstan). As a child, the girl was left without a mother and father. It is known that her father was repressed: the reason was his noble birth.
Aliya studied at school for some time, after which she was taken to her by her grandmother from her mother's side. Uncle took part in the upbringing of the girl: from 8 years old she lived in his friendly family in Alma-Ata.
From an early age, the girl was distinguished by her strong character and focus on the goals that Alia set for herself.
In the mid-30s, the girl’s uncle entered the military academy for training and moved to the capital of the Soviet Union. Alia went with him. Then the family settled in the city on the Neva, where the academy was transferred. In 1939, Aliya was assigned to a school, at which there was a boarding school. She was then fourteen years old.
