Margarita Mamun is a well-known Russian gymnast, 2016 Olympic champion. Seven-time world champion, four-time European champion. Honored Master of Sports of the Russian Federation.

Biography
The future athlete was born in November 1995 on the first day in the capital of Russia, Moscow. Rita's father is a Bengali by birth, and the girl from birth had dual citizenship. Abdula Al Mamun was a marine engineer by nature and often went on business trips. On one of these business trips to Russia, he met the mother of the future gymnast, Anna. She also went in for sports, and when her daughter was born, Anna wanted Rita to do rhythmic gymnastics too.
Mamun began taking her first steps in sports at the age of seven, but she began to engage in professional training and prepare for serious sports competitions when she was eleven years old.
Professional career
At the age of sixteen Margarita won the first serious tournament. She became the champion of Russia in all-around. After such success, she was invited to the national team, training took place in Novogorsk. In 2011, she first went to the World Cup in the Canadian city of Montreal for the first time in the national team. There she took third place in the all-around and the first in the exercise with the ball.

The year 2013 was truly triumphant for the young gymnast. At the World Championships held in Ukrainian Kiev, she won two gold medals. The European Championship, held in Austria, also brought Mamun two gold. Finally, the Kazan Universiade brought Margarita four top awards at once.
The victorious series of 2013 ended in October with the club world championship in Japan. Margarita represented the Gazprom team. A team of three gymnasts (Rita, together with Julia Bravikova and Yana Kudryavtseva) took first place in the tournament. In singles, Mamun was able to win only a bronze award.

In 2014, the world tournament was held in Izmir, Turkey. There Margarita won awards in six categories at once. Three medals of the highest degree and three silver. At the European tournament, held in Azerbaijan, the gymnast performed unexpectedly poorly: a few annoying mistakes and losses led Mamun to only fifth place in the final standings.
In 2016, Margarita won one of the most valuable awards in the career of most athletes. At the Olympic Games in Brazil, she won the all-around gold medal. On this pleasant note, the girl decided to temporarily stop her sports career. A year later, she announced that she was finally leaving the sport.
