Taisiya Osipova was born on August 26, 1984 in Smolensk, where she spent her childhood. After graduating, she married Sergei Fomchenkov, member of the executive committee of the Other Russia party, and moved to Moscow. Together they raise their six-year-old daughter Katrina.
The girl’s activity began to appear in 2003, when she got a job as a correspondent for the newspaper “General Line”. At a public event, Osipova hit a bouquet of carnations with the head of the administration of the Smolensk region, Viktor Maslov, saying: "You live off ordinary Smolensk, here’s greetings from the NBP!" As a result, a criminal case was opened and Taisiya was sentenced - 1 year probation.
Osipova was arrested in the fall of 2010, and a hearing was held on December 29, 2011, and the defendant’s guilt was proved during the hearing. The presiding judge of the Zadniprovsky court g. Smolensk E.N. Dvoryanchikov was sentenced under part 3 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The punishment was severe - 10 years in prison. On February 15, 2012, in response to a cassation appeal submitted by lawyers, the court decision was quashed by the Smolensk Regional Court, and the case was sent for review. By a court decision of August 28, 2012, Thaisia was sentenced to 8 years in prison. At the same time, the prosecutor requested only 4, below the lower limit of the minimum sanction of the alleged article.
Dmitry Medvedev, meeting with MSU students in January 2012, expressed his opinion on what was happening. In the opinion of the then acting president, the sentence imposed by Osipova’s court is too harsh. The lawyers of the girl are sure that the case of Taisiya Osipova was fabricated, the evidence was thrown up. All of these activities were carried out by law enforcement agencies to put pressure on Taisiya’s husband.
Defenders of Osipova believe that there are many unclear points in the matter. For example, all witnesses in the case are classified, the testimonies of these people are confused, and it is not always possible to assess them unambiguously. In addition, there are many contradictions and inaccuracies.
The girl did not admit her guilt, she is sure that the drugs were slipped to her. A detailed photographing and video filming during the search was necessary only for the subsequent informing of encrypted witnesses.
The convicted daughter is in the care of her husband’s sister, Olga. Taisiya has a number of diseases: diabetes, pyelonephritis, high blood pressure, etc. The Kremlin is ready to consider petitions for clemency. Rallies in support of Osipova are constantly held, supporters consider her innocent and demand an acquittal.
