Tests are the main working tool of a practical psychologist. With their help, you can determine the level of development of attention and memory, especially perception, learn about personality traits and even identify a number of pathologies. A special place in the series of these methods is occupied by IQ tests, which make it possible to assess the level of intelligence of the subject.

The concept of "intelligence quotient" (IQ) appeared with its current form only at the beginning of the 20th century. It was first introduced by the German philosopher and psychologist W. Stern. The proposed indicator was a quantitative assessment of the level of development of human mental abilities. The ratio was based on the relationship between chronological age and intelligence indicators, which were identified by special methods.
2
Over the past century, many intelligent tests have been developed and proposed that make it possible to determine IQ. But only a few of them passed the test of time and proved their validity, that is, the ability to correctly reflect the characteristic that they were originally aimed at measuring.
3
The repertoire of techniques revealing intellectual characteristics is quite rich. Among practicing psychologists, the intelligence tests that Kettell, Raven, and Wexler offered at different times are very popular. But the Eisenck test, first proposed in the forties of the last century, confidently takes the first place in prevalence.
4
An English researcher, Hans Eisenck, developed and put into practice several different versions of the test designed to measure IQ. Experts attribute them to the category of prefabricated techniques. The purpose of the test is to assess the characteristics of intelligence, for which graphic, digital and verbal stimuli are used. The methods for formulating tasks in different parts of the test differ from each other.
5
The Eysenck test is best suited for examining people aged 18 to 55 who have a secondary education. His task is not to identify the level of general awareness and erudition, but to quantify the ability to think and identify patterns. The test result allows you to determine the place of the subject in any particular group, if you want to rank people according to the level of intellectual development.
6
It is best to pass intelligence testing under the guidance of a professional psychologist. This ensures that the procedure will be carried out correctly and without distortion. It should be borne in mind that the Eysenck test was developed without taking into account some significant factors that could affect the final result. For example, the technique does not take into account the emotional state of a person, which is capable of temporarily causing disorganization of thinking. The testing psychologist may amend the examination procedure.
