What is the cost of living
According to the legislation of Ukraine, the cost of living is the monthly cost of a minimum set of food products, non-food items, and also the services necessary to meet basic human needs. We can say that the cost of living is the average cost of a consumer basket set by the state, per one month.
For how many categories of citizens a living wage is established
In Ukraine, the subsistence minimum is set separately for: children under 6 years old, children from 6 to 18 years old, able-bodied people, as well as for the disabled population. The latter include retirees by age and unemployed persons with disabilities. In addition, there is a general value of the cost of living.
In Ukraine, the cost of living is determined annually by the law on the state budget. Depending on the economic situation in the country, the subsistence minimum during the year may increase or be unchanged.
How much is the cost of living in 2014
In Ukraine this year, the following subsistence minimum values apply:
Total size - 1176 hryvnias;
Children under 6 years old - 1032 hryvnias;
Children from 6 to 18 years old - 1286 hryvnias;
The able-bodied population - 1218 hryvnias;
Disabled population - 949 hryvnias.
It should be noted that while legislation this year does not provide for an increase in the cost of living. Therefore, any changes in its value can be expected from January 1, 2015.
