The World Health Organization annually publishes statistics on which country leads in the use of alcohol. Many people have a stereotype that Russia should come first, but this is not so. Some nations drink more than Russians.
Moldova
According to the latest data, this country is the first in the ranking of the most drinking countries. The assessment is carried out on average. For one resident of Moldova there are more than 18 liters of alcohol per year. Wine production here is famous for its scale. Quality and quantity are approximately equal. The cultivation of vineyards has long become a tradition of Moldova. In the budget of this country there is a sector allocated for the treatment of alcoholism. This nation drinks more than Russians. In Russia, this figure does not reach more than 15.8 liters. Therefore, the Russians in the ranking occupy only fourth place. Moldovans also take first place in a number of other bad habits - such as drug addiction and smoking.
Czech
This European country ranks second in the ranking of alcohol consumption. The figure of 16.4 liters of alcohol per year is very justified here. Czech brewing is considered prestigious. Each self-respecting institution should have its own production in the basement. By tradition, the majority of residents after a hard working day do not go home, but to the pub. There you can skip a few glasses of beer. Almost all indigenous residents of Prague drink beer, preferring it to any other type of alcohol. Since Prague is considered one of the most visited tourist cities in the world, visitors only increase the average amount of drink per year. In addition, the cost of beer here averages 50 cents, which attracts tourists to great waste. Therefore, we can safely call the Czechs a nation that drinks more than the Russians.
Hungary
"Bronze" goes to this country for a reason. Each resident consumes approximately 16.3 liters of alcohol annually. More than a million Hungarians suffer from alcoholism. It is difficult to treat, therefore, periodically there are organized days to combat this addiction. The most popular drink in Hungary is beer. Its quality is at a rather low level, especially when compared with the Czech Republic. Therefore, Hungarians do not like to drink local drinks, preferring imported ones. Neighborhood with Western Ukraine allows for the exchange of goods. By the way, it is Ukraine that takes the fifth line of the rating after Russia.
