Once the mailbox index was memorized as a child, along with the house number and street name. Now we remember by heart the e-mail and passwords for credit cards. And to find out the index will have to make some efforts.

Instruction manual
1
Go to the official website of the Russian Post (www.russianpost.ru). On the left side of the main page, find the link "Search for post offices." On the page that opens, enter the parameters of your place of residence (or the place whose zip code you want to find out). In the drop-down lists, select a region, district, settlement. Write the street name and house number. You can also write immediately the entire address in the "Search by address" column. In this case, first type the name of the city, then the street, house number. Do not put any punctuation marks between the names and do not write prefixes (city, street, house). If the house number contains a letter, put it immediately after the number, without a space. The case number, in contrast, is written after a space. Click on the search button located at the bottom of the page.
2
The result of the search will be the address of the post office that serves the named house. In the first column of the table with the address, the desired index will be written.
3
In addition to the official mail site, there are resources designed exclusively for searching the index. Type in the line of any Internet search engine the phrase "find out the zip code" and go to any of the proposed sites. As a rule, the information on them is ordered by city names (they are presented in a list in alphabetical order).
4
If you understand that you do not know the index, before sending the parcel directly by mail, contact the operator accepting the mail. He will prompt your index and in the database will find an index of the addressee.
5
You can find the desired combination of numbers at home. Look, perhaps you have preserved old letters or boxes from parcels and parcels. An index will be written on them under your mailing address.
Helpful advice
Be careful when writing a zip code. On parcels and parcels write it clearly, legibly, without corrections. On the envelopes, write the numbers in a special form - while following the pattern printed on the envelope flap.
