Paying money for moving on a particular transport is not all. What is needed is a kind of document confirming that you paid for the fare and that you have every right to board the plane or train. The same goes for a variety of cultural and sporting events.

The easiest way to get a ticket to the ballet in your own hands is to buy it. You can do this in different ways, and you probably already resorted to many of them: buy at the cash desk on the spot, in the subway and on the streets and in special kiosks, order on the Internet, buy from hand right before the event. In this case, of course, you cannot say that you yourself “made” a ticket. You paid money for which other people printed your ticket. But the main thing is that you have it, isn't it?
2
You can do it in another way. Nowadays, such a system is common in rail transport. You buy a ticket on the Internet, and then come to the station and print a document by order number and passport data. This method is convenient because you will not lose the treasured piece of paper by paying for travel, suppose, a month before departure. Your data will be stored in the database, and you will receive your ticket right before boarding the train.
3
Of course, you can try to fake tickets. It sounds tempting: you didn’t pay a dime, but you’ll come to the right place at the right time with the document, and let them try not to let you through. However, falsification of documents has little to do with the law. It will cost a lot: you need to do a lot of preparatory work, for which you most likely will need a large team of accomplices. So it’s better not to waste time, but just buy a ticket. It will be simpler, safer, cheaper and more honest.
4
There is another alternative. Why make a paper ticket if you can simply pay for its electronic counterpart or immediately go through electronic registration? In this case, when boarding the vehicle, you will just need to present a document proving the identity and stated in the electronic ticket. Of course, it is better to play it safe and make yourself a printout of the order, in case the authorized person has questions for you. Such a printout will also allow you not to forget what time and where you are flying, in which carriage you are traveling, and so on. The electronic ticket system, of course, is good, but it is unlikely to suit you if you are not going anywhere, but are just going to attend a concert.
