For each author, the publication of his work is a significant event. And, of course, I always want the book to be noticed and read by as many people as possible. Unfortunately, in order for your creation to find its fans, publication alone is not enough. However, publishers today do not always undertake the organization of an advertising campaign. In this case, the task of promoting the book lies largely with the author.
Instruction manual
1
If you are a beginner author, then even before your first book leaves the printing house, be sure to ask your editor what actions the publisher intends to take to promote your work. As a rule, if you do not belong to the category of venerable writers, no special advertising campaign will be conducted. Therefore, you yourself will have to make sure that the reader community finds out about your book.
2
First of all, try to inform the widest possible audience about your debut. The press and the Internet can be good tools for this. Be sure to start your own blog (online diary) and regularly publish there information about your creative work. In the same diary, put small fragments from your book from time to time. This always attracts the attention of readers and arouses their interest.
3
Also, if you do not have accounts on social networks, such as Vkontakte and FaceBook, register them. Then find the profile groups for writers and join them. Do not ignore specialized literary and writing forums. For example, the forum publisher "Exmo" (http://forum.eksmo.ru/).
4
Try to make contacts with already established writers and get their feedback on an upcoming or already published book. The more mentions you have about you online, the better for your publication.
5
In addition to disseminating information on the Internet, be sure to try to get a mention of yourself and your book in the paper press. If you were asked to give an interview, never refuse, even if it is a little-known publication. However, before meeting with reporters, be sure to thoroughly think over your image. Remember that each of your appearance in public, each statement will work either on your image, or against it.
6
Try to negotiate with the publisher so that you can help arrange a meeting with readers or an autosession. Thus, you will not only draw additional attention to your book, but also be able to assess your potential target audience, communicate with readers personally.
7
If you have some financial freedom, hire a professional PR agent or contact a specialized agency. At the same time, do not shift all responsibility for the successful promotion of your book to a professional PR man. Be sure to find out from him in which media and how often he will be able to get publication about you. Consult with your PR agent regarding your image, think with him how you can make it more attractive.
8
When advertising your book, do not try to get only positive reviews, do not enter into public conflicts with colleagues or readers. Your task is to become famous, not scandalous. In any communication, always try to observe correctness and dignity.
