Tymoshenko Yulia Vladimirovna - a prominent politician and former Prime Minister of Ukraine, was arrested on August 5, 2011 for abuse of office in the post of Prime Minister.
On the same day, a decision was made in the courtroom on the arrest of Yulia Tymoshenko because, in the judge’s opinion, she prevented the interrogation of the rest of the suspects. Since then, Tymoshenko was held in a pre-trial detention center, where in the very first hours of her imprisonment she made a statement that she fears for her life and will never commit suicide voluntarily. Already on August 15, Yulia Tymoshenko's lawyers announced strange bruises on her body, although before that, the former The Prime Minister was distinguished by good health and amazing performance. Tymoshenko’s supporters made a statement that the bruising was the result of poisoning Yulia in prison and put forward a request to let her see a personal doctor so that he could take a blood test. The request was never satisfied. In October 2011, the Pechorinsky District Court found Tymoshenko guilty. According to the court, the former prime minister exceeded her authority in that, after negotiations with Russia, she ordered the conclusion of gas supply agreements between Russia and Ukraine, which led the state to losses of one and a half million hryvnias. On the same day, the court sentenced Tymoshenko to seven years in prison and a ban on holding public office for three years after her release. On November 23, 2011, Yulia Tymoshenko was examined. In the Kiev Regional Clinical Hospital No. 1, she underwent magnetic resonance imaging, which revealed an intervertebral hernia. On November 30, the former prime minister was finally transferred to the medical unit of the pre-trial detention center. On December 1, the court examined the appeal in the case of Yulia Tymoshenko. The defendant herself, for health reasons, could not attend the meeting. The court of appeal upheld the verdict. On December 8, Tymoshenko was tried directly in the medical unit of the detention center. The trial lasted for 12 hours, during which the defendant was lying on the bed and she was injected with painkillers. On December 23, 2011, the court’s verdict came into force, and Yulia Tymoshenko was transferred to Kachanovo correctional colony No. 54, which is located in Kharkov.
