Determine if you or your relative, neighbor, and so on are entitled to receive free accommodation and care for a government account in a nursing home. According to article 15 of the Law on Social Welfare of Citizens, article 17 of the Model Regulation on a Home for the Elderly and Disabled, persons of retirement age or persons with disabilities of the first and second groups older than 18 years who are not able to take care of themselves can be placed in a nursing home in need of outside help and medical care. Moreover, they should not have parents or children of working age who are obliged to provide assistance to their children (parents) in accordance with the law. Also, the state of health of an elderly person or a disabled person should not impede living in such a public place as a nursing home.

An application to apply for a nursing home must be submitted to the local department of the social welfare department. There you will be given a list of necessary tests (for the absence of infectious diseases) and a referral to fluorography and a diphtheria vaccine. It will also require conclusions from a therapist, psychiatrist, dermatovenerologist, oncologist, for women - a gynecologist.

After all medical procedures and checks have been completed, and the sanitary and epidemiological station will certify with a seal a certificate confirming that you do not have infectious diseases, you will need to contact the housing office (house management) and the passport office in order to receive certificates of the availability of housing and its type. Please note: if housing is not privatized and you live in it alone, it will only be retained for you for six months from the day you settle in a nursing home, in accordance with Section 12 of the Law on Social Services for Elderly and Disabled Citizens. It will also be necessary to renew the receipt of the pension to a new address.
