To automate the process of transportation, storage and sale of goods, it was thought to label them with a special alternation of white and black stripes. This rotation is called a barcode.

Instruction manual
1
To read these codes, special scanners are used that connect to the computer, and the goods are either debited from the warehouse or sold in the store. Arabic numerals are printed under the stripes. Their number depends on the accepted standard. The most common standard is the European EAN-13, which contains 13 digits. The first three or two digits will indicate in which country a particular product is produced.
2
A complete list of codes to reproduce does not make sense. You should not remember it either. In addition, there are special computer programs that give out the name of the country by numbers entered from the keyboard. Part of the list:
00-09 Canada and the USA;
400-440 Germany;
460-469 Russia;
50 United Kingdom;
76 Switzerland;
869 Turkey;
888 Singapore.
The average four or five digits reflect the company in which the goods are produced. The last five digits indicate the weight, color, name and other characteristics of the product. If on when automation of production and warehousing is not needed.
3
The last digit in the barcode is the control. It is calculated by a special algorithm and depends on the numbers ahead. You can, of course, do the authentication of the goods in this way, but fraudsters can even fake these numbers. So it’s better to focus on your own feelings when buying a product.
Helpful advice
The buyer should be wary if the barcode on the box does not correspond to the spelling of the name of the country.
