And the history of Russia in the last century has been associated with several wars and the period of Stalinist mass repressions. Therefore, it is not surprising that some citizens are still busy searching for their dead and missing relatives. Instruction manual
1
Contact the Rosarchive, one of the largest archival agencies in Russia. It stores information about the soldiers who died during the fighting. Among the structural units under his direct supervision are the Russian State Military Historical Archive and the Navy Archive. All their funds are in the public domain. You can familiarize yourself with the available archival materials in the equipped special room. Those who work on a personal application are entitled to 5 cases and inventories per day. At your request, photocopies and microfilms of documents can be made in the archive.
2
Find information about other military archives on the Internet. The Federal Archive Agency (Rosarchive) has its own website where you can find the addresses of the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Military Memorial Center of the Armed Forces and the Central Naval Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The site also contains the contact numbers of these military archives, call these phones and find out the conditions for the provision of information.
3
Make a request to the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (TsAMO), located in Podolsk. It stores documents of all military headquarters, formations and units from 1941 to the end of the 80s of the last century. Contact this archive personally if you live near Podolsk.
4
Look for information about a person who has not returned from the war in the databank of scanned documents for so-called irretrievable losses - OBD "Memorial" on the website of this database on the Internet. Type in the appropriate field the available data by last name, first name, patronymic, year of birth and rank of the person. Fields may not be filled in all; in this case, the search term will simply expand. You will see scans of documents where there is mention of people with such data. On the scan of the document, the name list contains information about the next of kin - the wife or parents. This will help you in your search.
