Almost all orphanages are gratefully accepting things, clothes, shoes, books, equipment, cosmetics, stationery, textiles and much more. At the same time, it is not at all necessary to be a major financier-philanthropist in order to at least help a little orphaned children with what you are able to share with them. So, you decided to give part of your belongings to the baby’s house, but don’t know where to start?
Instruction manual
1
To begin with, soberly evaluate and carefully examine the things that you want to convey to the orphanage. As a rule, the capital’s orphanages have already stopped accepting used clothes from the population, since most often people carry very shabby and old, and sometimes non-washed clothes. Therefore, if you collected a bag with normal clothes, which you would gladly give to a friend, sister, and your child, and they would have begun to carry it with no less pleasure, then you are halfway to the title of a worthy benefactor. Children will be very happy with good and modern clothes. In orphanages, sportswear and quality shoes are readily accepted.
2
All clothing should be clean, well-washed, dried, preferably ironed. Inspect for torn items, with diverging seams, musty, with non-washable stains. Clothing should not be stretched, with fluffy edges. Strongly spoiled things, even if they were once very expensive and beautiful, it is better to throw it away. If you are at a loss what clothes should be left and which ones not, consult the administration of the orphanage or, in extreme cases, when transferring things, warn that you did not sort them.
3
If you are going to transfer home appliances, books or something else to the orphanage, also look at everything for external and hidden defects: are there pages in the books, are the electronics working, etc. It is better if the transferred things will have factory packaging and operating instructions.
4
Transfer everything collected to any social assistance center for children. Addresses of centers in Moscow can be found on the website: http://fadm.gov.ru/regionmain/region77/suborg/cspsid.php or http://www.dsmp.mos.ru/institutions-of-department/ . The addresses of the regional centers for social assistance to children can be found in the reception office of your city.
5
Orphaned children in hospitals also urgently need ordinary, but high-quality things and objects, such as personal hygiene products for girls, soap, toothpaste, powder, creams, powders, baby oils, shampoos, diapers. These hygiene products should not be printed. And, of course, sick kids are twice as pleased to receive a new toy, book, coloring book, etc. To help hospitals, contact the reception office of your city’s Federal Health Surveillance Service or the medical facility that treats orphans.
6
If you want to specifically help a particular orphanage, you can take things yourself, but during working hours and having previously notified the administration about your arrival. Another option is to send things in the mail with an ordinary parcel. Addresses and phone numbers of children's homes in Moscow: http://www.allo499.ru/tel/allomsk/16/631/ .

If you are a parishioner of any church, then they will probably tell you where you can take things for orphans. There are also children's shelters at churches and monasteries that will never refuse any charitable help.
