In the Orthodox church calendar, there are twelve major Christian holidays, called the twentieth. One of these celebrations is the feast of the Holy Trinity.
The feast of the Holy Trinity (Holy Trinity Day) is the time when the trinity of the deity is sung in the Orthodox Church. This is one of the favorite holidays of the Russian people. However, this triumph is far from always called “Holy Trinity Day”.
In the church charter there is another name for this holiday - Holy Pentecost. In all liturgical books, the Trinity Day is accompanied by just such a name. Why exactly Pentecost? In accordance with the gospel description, on the fiftieth day after the resurrection of Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit descended on the holy apostles. This was the appearance of the third Person of the Holy Trinity. This day was the birthday of the Church (the birthday of the Church is another name for the festival of the Holy Trinity, especially loved by the people). It turns out that Pentecost is a name that indicates the time of a historical event. Until now, the Day of the Holy Trinity (Pentecost) is solemnly celebrated by the Orthodox Church on the 50th day after Easter.
Another name for the celebration of the Holy Trinity is "The Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles." This naming is no longer indicative of time, but of the event itself.
It is also worth noting that the day after the feast of the Holy Trinity is separately dedicated to the Holy Spirit. In the church calendar, it is called - Spirits day. According to the ancient folk tradition, Monday after the Holy Trinity Day is called the name of Mother Earth.
