Biography
The future director was born in March 1942 on the twenty-third in the German city of Munich. Michael's parents: father Fritz Haneke - German film director, mother - Austrian actress Beatrice von Degenschild. From childhood, they introduced the boy to the beautiful. In school years, he participated in various productions and closer to graduation he finally decided on his future profession. He did not really like to play on stage, young Haneke was more interested in the process of creation and staging.
Professional career
After school, he went to Vienna, where he entered the university. He was simultaneously carried away by philosophy, psychology and theatrical art. Having successfully completed his studies, Haneke took up quite unusual craft for many, he became a film critic. In the late sixties, he also moonlighted on the German television channel Südwestfunk. In 1973, he first became involved in directing at a serious level. From his pen came a television project called "After Liverpool", which premiered in 1974.
Henecke's full-fledged film debut took place in 1989 when his film "The Seventh Continent" was released. The premiere at the Locarno festival brought the director one of the first prestigious awards. At the Vienna Film Festival in 1992, Henecke presented his new work, Benny's Videotapes. The burning theme of the popularization of violence, excellent production and competent script impressed film critics so much that the work of the Austrian director, his picture was recognized as one of the best at the festival.

In 1997, Henecke finished work on the next film, Funny Games. A picture of two psychopathic killers was presented at the fiftieth film festival in Cannes. Many film critics spoke of the film as the most memorable at the festival, but the film turned out to be a complete zero in the prize equivalent. Later, the director decided to re-shoot the film, and in 2007 an Americanized remake of the same name was released.
The most prestigious film award, the Oscar, Michael Haneke received in 2013. Then his work “Love” was nominated in four categories at once and received a coveted golden statuette, as “Best Foreign Language Film”.
To date, the talented director continues to work, and the latest creation of Haneki was born in 2017. The Happy End film was presented at the Cannes Film Festival, but received no awards.
