18th Berlin International Beer Festival
The 18th International Beer Festival will be held in Berlin from August 1 to 3. This annual festival attracts no less guests than the well-known Oktoberfest. Beer tents are traditionally located on the Karl Marx alley in central Berlin, over 2 km long.
The history of the festival began back in 1997, and in 2011 the Beer Mile was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest beer garden (open-air beer restaurant). Throughout the alley from Straussberg Square to the Frankfurt Gate, there will be 320 beer producers from 86 countries around the world who can offer visitors to taste about 2, 000 varieties of this popular drink.
Guests of the event receive a beer mug with the festival logo in volume of 0.2 l and a commemorative photo on the background of an advertising poster.
Each year, some of the beer-producing countries become queens of the evening. In 2008, the Czech Republic became such, in 2009 - Belgium, in 2010 - Vietnam, in 2012 - the Baltic countries, and in 2013, Poland was the focus of attention. The organizers are hiding who will become the star of the event at the upcoming festival, preparing a surprise for the guests.
The organizer of the Berlin International Beer Festival is the German company Praesenta. According to the company, in 2014 about 700, 000 guests from around the world are expected. In addition to tents with beer, entertainment shows and performances by music groups at 20 concert venues await them.
The festival has rules prohibiting offensive language regarding racial, ethnic, religious affiliation and sexual orientation of citizens. Violation of the rules is followed by immediate expulsion.
Everyone can take part in the festival and for free. On August 1, the festival starts at 12 noon and ends at 12 noon. On August 2, the festival will run from 10 to midnight, and on August 3 - from 10 to 22.
