Athlete Biography
Eugene was born on April 2, 1990 in Omsk. Her mother herself was a former athlete. For this reason, she did not want to give the girl to sports. But Evgenia’s grandmother insisted on this and independently took the child to the rhythmic gymnastics section at six.
Kanaeva from her birth possessed unprecedented flexibility, plasticity and stretching. She immediately fell in love with this sport and began to train hard. But in his hometown, success was impossible. Therefore, at the age of 12, Kanaeva goes to Moscow, where he participates in the training camp of the national team. She is noticed by a talented coach Amin Zaripova and invites her to study at the Olympic Reserve School.
The first success came to Eugene in 2003 at the junior world championship. She became a champion and attracted the attention of coaches of the main national team of Russia. So a few days later the girl was already training at the base of the team in Novogorsk. But Kanayeva didn’t manage to break into the main team right away. At that time, Alina Kabaeva and Irina Chashchina shone in the Russian team.
The girl continued to work hard, and was rewarded for her hard work. In 2007, Kabaeva was injured and Kanaeva went to the European Championship instead. She became the owner of several gold medals. Then the gymnast repeated her success at the World Cup. Even then it was clear that another star of rhythmic gymnastics appeared in Russia.
The first Olympic Games for Kanaeva took place in 2008 in Beijing. She was then very young. But this did not prevent the girl from becoming a champion in the all-around. Many gymnasts after successful competitions finish their sports career on the rise. But Eugene continued to train and repeated her success at the 2012 games in London. She again became the owner of gold and entered the history of Russian and world sports, as one of the most successful gymnasts.
After such an overwhelming success, Eugene decided to end her sports career. Moreover, she was constantly tormented by injuries. In total, during the performances at the highest level, the girl became the world champion 17 times and won gold 13 times at the European Championships.
After completing her career, Kanaeva did not move far from rhythmic gymnastics. She went to work as a trainer, and transfers her rich experience to little girls. Of course, for them, Eugene is a real idol.
In parallel with performances at tournaments, Kanaeva managed to get a higher education. She graduated from the Siberian University of Physical Education and Sports.
