Artist Biography
The future screen star was born in Baku on September 16, 1945. His dad was Armenian, and his mother was Jewish. Petrosyants, Evgeni Vaganovich, already speaking on the stage, reduced his surname for better sounding. The boy’s childhood passed in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.
Once a cousin took Eugene to a humorous concert, and even then the boy realized that he also wanted to make people laugh. Moreover, these were difficult post-war years, when everyone was in sorrow and despair. But parents took this eagerness of the child without much enthusiasm. They had nothing to do with art. Dad worked as a teacher, and mom was a housewife.
But Eugene already set himself the goal of becoming an artist and began a long way to its implementation. At first he participated in various performances of the school puppet theater, and also independently showed small feuilletons and humorous scenes.
After leaving school, Petrosyan moved to Moscow, where he enrolled in the creative workshop of pop art, where famous theater and film actors Rina Zelenaya and A. Alekseev became his teachers. Already in 1962, he began his first concerts on the big stage.
Then Eugene worked as an entertainer in the ensemble under the direction of Utesov, and then worked for more than twenty years in the Moskontsert. During this time, Petrosyan managed to get another education and graduate from GITIS. And also get the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. Later in 1991 he was awarded another title - People's Artist.
The first real popularity came to the artist in the 1970s. Then he began to put on humorous performances on the stage of the Moscow Variety Theater and simultaneously starred in the program for television "Three went on stage."
After that, Petrosyan created the Variety of Miniatures Theater, which eventually transformed into a “Crooked Mirror”. Yevgeny Petrosyan’s "Smehopanorama" was regularly broadcast on television.
Now Evgeny Vaganovich has gone on a well-deserved rest, but nonetheless he regularly appears on television and participates in various television shows.
