EXPO-2012 is a worldwide exhibition that runs from May 12 to August 12 in the South Korean city of Yosu. This event allowed Russia to declare itself as a high-tech state that takes care of its resources and knows how to use them rationally and correctly. Within the framework of the exhibition, the country presents innovative developments, both existing today and planned in the future.
In the huge pavilion of our country, there are technical models that have no analogues in the world - a new generation nuclear icebreaker and a floating model of a nuclear power plant, with which guests can learn how the security system works at modern nuclear power plants. In addition, the Mir deep-sea vehicles are presented, as well as models of the most modern Tidal hydroelectric power station and the legendary Vostok station. Especially for EXPO-2012, a virtual ship bridge was constructed with a simulator installed on it, which modulates the ship's passage through different bays in different weather conditions.
In addition, representatives of Russia made sure that as many guests as possible knew about the use of Russian developments in important world discoveries and about the country's role in maintaining the diversity of the world's oceans. For this, a colorful and fascinating film about the development of the Arctic was shot, and a huge library with unique scientific material was compiled, which was taken from museums and organizations throughout Russia. This information, presented in Russian and Korean, guests could freely view or download using their iPad.
But the main event of our country's participation in this exhibition was the Day of Russia, which was held on June 20. The guests were presented with a rich cultural and entertainment program with the participation of the Russian dance ensemble "Birch", ballet virtuosos and performer Tatyana Reshetnikova, who sang folk songs. An excursion to the Russian sailing ship, which came to the city bay, was also organized, and fascinating stories were told about the study of the South and North Poles by Russian scientists and travelers.
