Biography
The future journalist was born on the first day of February 1971. Georgy's family are prominent representatives of the Soviet intelligentsia: his father is a doctor of sciences, worked as a professor, and his mother was a researcher. Parents devoted a lot of time to their work, and therefore grandmother was engaged in raising the boy. In school, George began to be actively involved in football, he played well, regularly became the winner of various school competitions. In 1982, he was enrolled in the farm club of the capital “Spartak”, where he spent seven years, but in 1989 was forced to interrupt his sports career due to a serious knee injury.
TV career
Before getting on television, George Cherdantsev had a long way to go. Forcedly abandoning his football career, he entered the Faculty of Philology at the most prestigious university in Moscow - Moscow State University. Studying was easy, and in 1992 he successfully received a diploma of translator from English. Despite a solid education, Cherdantsev could not get a job by profession. Unable to engage in an interesting business, George got a job as an ordinary manager at the bank, but did not stay there for a long time. After that there were attempts to find his place in the tourism sector, but he worked there for no more than a year.
Cherdantsev appeared on television by accident: in 1996, when he watched TV, he found out about the launch of a package of paid services from the NTV channel, then he decided to try himself as a journalist. Good knowledge of foreign languages and a diploma from a prestigious university played an important role in the interview. At first, he worked under the leadership of Vasily Utkin in the popular program "Football Club".
George made his debut as a commentator in 1998. He worked on the broadcast of the World Cup match between the teams of Italy and Norway. In 1999, he became the host of his own program on NTV + European Football Week. The program highlighted the striking events of European football over the past week. In 2005, he tried himself as a radio host in the program “Listen to football”, where he worked until 2013. In 2015, Match-TV, the largest sports media holding, was formed, and George returned to television, where he works as a commentator and acts as an expert in analytical programs.
George gained the greatest popularity by commenting on the Russia-Netherlands match, thanks to his emotionality, he quickly won the attention of all football fans in the country, and his comments were stolen by quotes and fashionable “memes”.
