Björk Gudmundsdottir (full name of the singer) was born in 1965 in the city of Reykjavik. After her birth, her parents divorced, and her mother married a former guitarist of the band "Pops". From childhood, Bjork began to practice vocals professionally, in addition, she attended classes in playing the flute and piano at a local music school. The girl at one of the concerts performed Tina Charles’s song “I Love To Love” and her teachers sent a recording to “Radio One” (Iceland's national radio). After the song performed by Björk was broadcast, a label called Falkkin offered Björk a record deal. So the first album of the singer was released, which became a hit in Iceland. At that time, the girl was only 11 years old.
As a teenager, Björk sang in a post-punk band called "Exodus", whose name a few years later changed to "Tappi Tíkarrass", whose first album was released in 1983. In the early 80s, a unique and shocking vocalist met with musicians, whom she later invited to her new band "The Sugarcubes". In 1992, disagreements arose between the musicians, the joint work ended. The band "The Sugarcubes" broke up, and the singer began a solo career.
The girl moved to London, where she began to collaborate with producer Nelly Hooper. The result of this creative union was the solo album "Debut", which was "platinum" in the United States. In 1994, singer Björk was awarded the BRIT Awards for the best international debut.
