She was interested in politics, literature, was a polyglot. Vsevolod’s father, Mikhail Egorovich, was a military man. Vsevolod Garshin is the only child in the family.
At the age of five, I had to go through grief. The poet’s mother fell in love with an avid and then famous revolutionary. The wife of Mikhail Egorovich escaped with her lover, and his father complained to the higher authorities. The couple was arrested, the revolutionary was sucked to Petrozavodsk, and Seva's mother moved to Petersburg in order to be closer to her beloved. Father Vsevolod lost the love of his life. Personal life after that did not work out.

Writer's work
After graduating from high school, the author was educated at the institute in St. Petersburg. It was there that he began to get involved in literature, wrote articles and essays. However, he never received a diploma. During the training, the Russo-Turkish war began and Vsevolod was sent to the front. There, the career turned out great. Garshin taught the rank of officer, however, he was wounded and he resigned.
After the service, Vsevolod began to actively engage in literature. Work on the stories reassured the author. Already the first story impressed readers, and won the hearts of critics. The story was called "Four Days." In this story, the author described his position, saying that he was against war and violence. This topic has become one of the key in the future work of the writer. This story Vsevolod highlighted the cycle of his works: "Batman and Officer", "Ayaslyar case", "From the memoirs of Private Ivanov" and "Coward".
In 1883, Garshin released another work, "Red Flower." In this creation, Vsevolod wanted to understand what is the role of art in human life. The main character of the work is not mentally healthy and is trying to fight evil all over the world. It seems to him that all evil is embodied in a red flower in the garden. He believed that it would be sufficient to disrupt it and the evil disappears. Later, a similar theme in his stories was developed by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov.
