The future science fiction writer and specialist in the field of biochemistry Isaac Asimov was born on January 2, 1920. His birthplace was the village of Petrovichi, which is located in the Smolensk region of Russia. The name at birth is Isaac Yudovich Ozimov.
The family of the future master of American fiction moved to the other end of the world after the Civil War. In the late 1920s, Asimov became a full-fledged US citizen.
Isaac went to school at the age of five. He impressed teachers and comrades with his abilities, skipped classes. Asimov completed the full school course at the age of 15 years. After this, the young man enters Brooklyn College, and then becomes a student at the Department of Chemistry, famous for his graduates from Columbia University (New York). Here in 1939, Azimov received a bachelor's degree, and a little later became a master in chemistry.
During the Second World War, Isaac worked as a chemist at the Philadelphia military shipyard, after which he managed to serve in the army.
