Leontiev’s avant-garde career began with the Sovremennik Theater rattling across the country. Then followed work at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater and the Snuffbox. On his account more than three dozen roles in films, including "Burnt by the Sun" and "Time of the First." Recently, Leontyev has concentrated on teaching.

Biography: early years
Avangard Nikolaevich Leontiev was born on February 27, 1947 in Moscow. According to him, the parents were "ordinary Soviet people." Dad worked as an engineer at a construction site, and mom was a housewife. Parents come from Orel. They met in local amateur performances, where mom performed in a dance club, and dad in a dramatic one. When my parents moved to Moscow, my father entered the Higher Director's Courses for Vsevolod Meyerhold himself. However, mom opposed this. For this reason, he quit courses.
The Leontief family lived in a communal apartment located in Bolshoi Karetny Lane. Vanguard from an early age dreamed of a scene. At four years old, he got up on a chair and recited poems to his communal apartment neighbors. At school, Vanguard was engaged in a drama circle. Later he began to attend the Artistic Word Studio at the House of Pioneers. There he studied with Anna Bovshek, who studied with Yevgeny Vakhtangov and Konstantin Stanislavsky. Under her leadership, the Vanguard significantly increased in acting. Bovshek taught him to keep the rhythm, to pause, to observe rhyme. As a high school student, Vanguard organized a theater studio, where he staged various performances with classmates.

After school, Leontiev entered the Moscow Art Theater School without problems. He came to Pavel Massalsky. At first, the Vanguard was among the laggards. Already in his second year, he noticeably pulled himself up and became a "leader". After graduating from the Studio School, he was invited to the Moscow Sovremennik.
Career
On the stage of Sovremennik Leontyev embodied more than two dozen images. Directors directed him to play mainly characteristic characters. Vanguard took part in such productions as:
- "At the bottom";
- "Princess and the Lumberjack";
- "Eternally Alive";
- "From evening to noon";
- "Twelfth Night";
- "Do not shoot white swans";
- "And in the morning they woke up";
- "The Cherry Orchard".
In 1974, Leontiev tried his hand at teaching. He began to work in a drama studio at the Palace of Pioneers. And then, at the invitation of Oleg Tabakov, with whom he had been friends for a long time, Leontiev began to teach at the Moscow Art Theater School.
In the early nineties, Vanguard moved to the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater. On his stage, he played in performances such as:
- "Lesson for Wives";
- "Forest";
- Tartuffe;
- "Overcoat".
In the mid-nineties, he began to take part in private enterprises. At the same time, he tried himself in the role of theatrical director.
The avant-garde film debut took place in 1974. Then he played in the film "Magre and the Old Lady". On his account, participation in three dozen films and television series, including the Siberian Barber, Sunstroke, Yesenin.
