Biography
The future famous tenor was born in a wealthy family of winegrowers September 22, 1958. Parents had a small farm in the Tuscan village of Lajatico, and a gifted child grew up on picturesque hills under the boundless sky of rural Italy, away from large cities.
From birth, he was diagnosed with glaucoma, he saw practically nothing and his vision was rapidly deteriorating. Numerous operations did not save the case, and at the age of 12 Andrea was completely blind. But he still had music - from an early age he gravitated to melodies and learned to play the flute, piano and saxophone and sang for loved ones, soloed in the school choir.
At first, Bocelli did not connect his plans for the future with music, and especially with singing. He dreamed of devoting his life to music, rationally reasoning that a lawyer in his family would be needed more than a singer, who were many, went to Pisa to get a law degree after school. And then he moved to Turin and there he met the great tenor Franco Gorelli, who became the first mentor for the future bright star of the opera scene.
Career
It all started for Andrea in 1992, when rock star Adelmo Fornachiari selected among young applicants to record his new song "Miserere". Bocelli successfully passed the competition and sang a song in a duet with the famous lyric tenor Luciano Pavarotti. After that, in 1993, Andrea went on a world tour with Fornachiari, and they started talking about him.
Soon Pavarotti personally invited Bocelli to take part in his opera projects. On Christmas Eve 1994, the young tenor was invited to speak to the Pope himself, and in 1995 he took a tour of Europe, where he sang with pop and opera stars and performed at charity events.
In the same year, the first album was released, simply called "Bocelli", which instantly becomes popular all over the world and is then re-released hundreds of times. His work, as the founder of the "Center for Man" put it, presenting Bocelli the award "Art, Science and Peace", exalts the soul and brings people outside borders from nationality and beliefs. In 2012, the singer’s autobiographical novel, “Music of Silence, ” was released. In the book, Andrea sincerely talks about his unusual fate and the price he paid for his amazing gift - a magnificent voice.
