Career
Alexey Nikolaevich was born on February 21, 1904. His hometown is St. Petersburg. During the Civil War, he was in the Red Army, and later was educated in a cooperative technical school. By distribution, he was sent to Novosibirsk, where Kosygin became an instructor in consumer cooperation.
In the field of cooperation, Alexey Nikolaevich managed to establish himself as a good manager. Then he was sent to Leningrad, he studied at a textile university.
Kosygin was a master at the factory. Zhelyabova, shift supervisor, then became director. He successfully proved himself in work and soon received the post of chairman of the executive committee. Alexei Nikolaevich was rapidly making a career, a year later he became the people's commissar of the textile industry.
During the war, Kosygin was engaged in the evacuation of factories, the supply of products to Leningrad. In 1943, he became the head of the Council of People's Commissars, and in 1946 he began to replace the chairman of the Council of Ministers.
Kosygin became the highest professional, but did not fight for power, ignored intrigue. He possessed a phenomenal memory, could multiply many-valued numbers in his mind. The meetings were held very quickly, spoke on the case, avoiding lengthy reasoning.
Stalin greatly appreciated his qualities and considered Alexei Nikolaevich an ideal business executive. After the death of Generalissimo, Kosygin was not removed, but he had a more modest post. He oversaw the production of consumer goods, later headed the Ministry of Food Industry, and then again began to replace the chairman of the Council of Ministers.
Under Brezhnev, Kosygin was appointed head of the government, but Leonid Ilyich did not like him: Alexei Nikolaevich was the only one from the Politburo who opposed the entry of Soviet troops into Afghanistan. He died to solve problems with other countries, resolved the conflict with China, did a lot for the Olympics in the USSR.
Very successful were his reforms in industry. Thanks to Kosygin, the independence of enterprises expanded. However, officials of the old school opposed his aspirations; much could not be completed. In 1980, Kosygin resigned due to poor health, he died in the same year, he was 76 years old.
