Alexey Alexandrovich Kalugin is a Russian science fiction writer, author of space fiction and several books from the STALKER cycle. Winner of the Bronze Snail Award, is actively engaged in writing and makes sketches for future autobiography.

Biography
Alex was born in the morning of July 11 in 1963 in Moscow. The child was taught to read early, and his first favorite authors were Wells and Lermontov. Alyosha spent a lot of time with his grandmother, whose house was literally packed with books. Already before school, the boy “swallowed” Doyle, Zweig, London, Heinlein, Harrison and Shakespeare. Of course, all this was reflected in his future books. The first story, inspired by the stories of famous classics, little Alyosha wrote at the age of six.
Further in his biography there was nothing outstanding. Eight classes of a secondary school, medical school, army, where he served in the construction battalion and received the profession of a bricklayer. After the army, he received higher education at the Institute of Food Industry, along with studies he worked as a laboratory assistant at the university of biomedicine and wrote stories.
Creative career
In 1996 he prepared the defense of the dissertation and released his first book, The Labyrinth, and soon its sequel, Torn Time. The Armada publishing house offered the writer a long-term contract, and Kalugin faced a choice: a career by profession or a writing path. He chose literature and never in his life regretted it.
In 1998, after the crisis in the country, Alexey Alexandrovich Kalugin broke up with Armada and began to collaborate with the famous Eksmo. He liked that this publishing house did not present genre and dimensional frames to writers, and he had the opportunity to immerse himself in creativity, without looking back at ridiculous rules. During this period, the best works of the writer.
In 2004, the story "In the Garden" was published, which became the author’s greatest success - he receives the Strugatsky Prize, and according to his story, a symphonic poem is put on the theater stage in St. Petersburg. Actively involved in the creation of the popular cycle "STALKER".
Kalugin's name became the main one in a scandal with torrent trackers illegally distributing his books. Eksmo has filed many lawsuits, thanks to which there were massive blockages of pirated resources.
