When little Valera was born in June 1941, his parents were ordinary peasants, worked in the field, and the boy, already in his early twenties, often remained alone at home. So that the son did not run away, the mother had to bind him. And Valery Sergeyevich remembered these terrible days for a child and carried it with him through his whole life.
At 7 years old, a terrible disaster happened to him - he became a cripple. A leg injury was incorrectly diagnosed, the treatment was carried out incorrectly, which provoked the development of bone tuberculosis. Doctors predicted the boy’s disability for life, but fate decreed otherwise. In 1964, Valery first appeared on the stage, and in 1965 starred in his first film.

After graduating from the Bystro-Istok school of the Altai Territory, Valery, limping, went to Moscow. The craving for acting led him to the operetta faculty of the legendary GITIS, where he was accepted after the first audition.
