Prisoners are called all citizens taken into custody. These include persons accused or suspected of being held in custody in a prison (in a bullpen, pre-trial detention center, etc.) until a court decision is made. All those to whom a court verdict has been passed and executed are called convicted and sent to correctional (penitentiary) institutions - colonies.

Correctional facilities in Russia, depending on the severity of the crime committed by their "residents", are divided into several types:
- general mode
- reinforced
- strict
- special
- specialized
- settlements.
The main goal of any such institution is to limit the freedom of stumbled citizens, but not their rights. In fact, the border between these concepts has been erased by the mentality of the "system" itself.
2
The general daily routine is drawn up by the head of the correctional labor colony (TEC) taking into account the regime of detention, individual for some convicts (for example, cook, storekeeper, duty officer, etc.).
3
The prisoner's morning begins with a general rise at 7.00. After about half an hour allotted for morning procedures and refueling beds, a morning examination begins, taking up to 40 minutes. Then a half-hour breakfast and a job divorce.
4
The work schedule complies with labor law, with a 30-minute lunch break. Then dinner, various activities, evening inspection, bedtime, continuous 8-hour sleep. The prisoner's personal time is usually 30-60 minutes.
5
Prisoners of all types of ITC (except for special ones) live in groups of 150-200 people in barracks, divided among themselves into guarded mini-zones. Special prisoners are locked up in cells of 25-50 people. One bedroom in the hut consists of 2-3 tiered shelves, "bunk", accommodating up to 150 people.
6
In the premises of each hut there are several functional areas: for storing outerwear, food and meals (for example, tea), personal items, and general gatherings. In front of the entrance is a fenced "walking" area. In separate buildings there is a club, a canteen, a medical unit, a library, a bathhouse, meeting rooms, as well as an administrative headquarters. You can move around the territory only with the permission of the administration in drill order.
7
In addition to the residential area on the territory of the penal colony, there is an industrial zone and a "penalty" for disciplinary punishments, such as a isolation ward (with isolation for 15 days) or FCT (confinement up to 6 months).
note
Prisoners have a relatively free regime only in colony settlements, and all other institutions have strict standards and regulations for all types of life activities, including walking, meeting, eating.
