Starting conditions
Contrary to the current widespread belief that Soviet engineers and scientists were inferior in qualifications to their Western opponents, the situation was different. Our specialists simply received a lower salary for their ideas and work. And technical products in their operational parameters were not inferior to European or American counterparts. Yuri Yuryevich Boldyrev at the end of the 80s of the last century worked at the research institute of ship electrical engineering.
At first, the biography of the future founder of the Yabloko party developed according to the generally accepted scheme. The child was born on May 29, 1960 in the family of a military man. Parents at that time lived in Leningrad. Father periodically transferred from one duty station to another. Thanks to such regulations, Yuri visited Murmansk, Egypt and other interesting places. The teenager had the opportunity to observe with his own eyes how people live in different countries and settlements, what they do and what they dream about.
In 1977, Boldyrev graduated from Leningrad school and entered the famous LETI - Electromechanical Institute. Having received a higher technical education, the young specialist came for distribution to one of the enterprises of the military-industrial complex. In 1983, he joined the Research Institute of Ship Technologies. Within the walls of this scientific institution, senior engineer Boldyrev met perestroika. The scientific and technical intelligentsia enthusiastically met the era of fundamental changes.
