The graduate class student Romanova was attracted by the coaches of the country's youth biathlon team. After graduating from school, Yana moved to Omsk, where she began training under the supervision of experienced mentors and getting an education at the State University of Physical Culture and Sports. Properly organized training process allowed the young athlete to demonstrate her abilities. At the qualifying tournaments in 2002, Romanova confidently entrenched in the thirty of the best athletes in the world. At the 2007 Universiade in Turin, a Russian biathlete won a bronze medal.
Biathlon team competition. For several years, Romanova made her contribution to the overall victory. At the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russian biathletes won an honorable second place in the team standings. After some time, the so-called doping scandal erupted in the Olympic Committee. First of all, athletes from Russia fell under suspicion. After lengthy and noisy proceedings, Yana Romanova was disqualified, suspended from participation in the Olympics forever and demanded to return the silver medal.
