The new law, according to the authorities, will be able to solve the problem of relations between men and women in Belgium. It is aimed primarily against immigrants and tourists who have not yet learned how to behave in a civilized society. Belgian women have repeatedly complained about the intrusive courtship of men, as well as their indecent behavior. The last straw was an amateur film shot by 25-year-old student Sophie Peters.
The girl acquired a hidden camera and recorded with her help her walk through the streets of Brussels. Despite the fact that she was modestly dressed and simply walked without attracting attention, the men molested her with rude courtship, and when she refused to meet them, they made obscene remarks about her. Moreover, some men even openly offered the girl an intimate relationship and tried to convince her to immediately go to the hotel, and they reacted inappropriately to the refusal. The girl posted her amateur film, entitled "Woman on the Street, " on the site and opened access to it. Within a few days, the video caused a public outcry in Belgium and France, and the authorities, seeing it, decided to adopt a new law.
From now on, every man who allows himself to obscene or even more abusively treat a stranger in a public place will be required to pay a fine of 250 euros. According to statistics, men who come from the Middle East most often pester Belgian ladies, and therefore the law is directed against them in the first place. Representatives of the authorities said: the problem of poor treatment of the fair sex in Belgium, France and several other countries is due precisely to the fact that many men from countries live in them, whose culture and traditions are unacceptable for European society.
