Biography
Ville Haapasalo is of Finnish origin and was born in Lahti in 1972. All his childhood years he was an ordinary boy, fond of sports like most of the inhabitants of Finland. Toward graduation, he became seriously interested in theater and even decided to study acting in England. But the young man did not reach his destination: his friends convinced him that in neighboring Russia there was also a strong acting school, and it would be easier for him there.
The future actor came to Leningrad and entered the local theater institute. He passed the tests in his native language and nevertheless came to the liking of the commission. But study turned out to be a serious test for Ville: he spent a lot of time studying Russian, and also tried to be a diligent student.
Once the director Alexander Rogozhgin became interested in coming from Finland, who was looking for a contender for the role of a foreigner in his comedy “Features of the National Hunt”. Ville Haapasalo fit perfectly into this image and after the release of the film in 1995 became so popular in Russia that, having lost control of his fame, he even left for his homeland. He did not stay in Lahti for long: all the same Rogozhkin invited him to shoot his new films - "Features of National Fishing", "Operation" Happy New Year "and" Cuckoo ".
Subsequently, Ville Haapasalo actually lived in two countries, starring in various films and TV projects, but for a long time he did not have high-profile roles. Only in 2009 did “Russian Fin" regain its former fame by playing in the comedy of Marius Weisberg “Love in the Big City”. The film was so popular that it received two sequels. Attentive viewers will also be able to notice Ville on secondary roles in the films Irony of Fate. Continuation, Tsar, Three Musketeers and Pregnant.
