A selection of books for reading is a purely individual matter that does not tolerate common patterns. Someone likes detective stories, someone loves novels. However, there are books whose reading will be useful to both romantics and skeptics. I want to return to these books and re-read, putting aside quotes from them in a separate piggy bank of my memory.

"Flowers for Algernon." Posted by: Daniel Keyes
This book is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent. The point is in the technique of writing it: the author wrote in the first person, building phrases and entire chapters as realistically as the main character's intelligence developed.
The bottom line: Charlie, a 32-year-old rustic guy, is mentally retarded, which does not prevent him from working as a janitor in a private bakery and enjoying life. Once he agrees (more precisely, his parents, out of absolute indifference to their son, sign the necessary documents) for a scientific experiment to improve intelligence surgically through head surgery. Previously, such experiments were carried out only on mice. One such mouse - Algernon, becomes Charlie's friend, communication with her helps him survive all the changes that are taking place. And the changes are obvious: Charlie’s IQ level rises from 68 to 185 in a few months. But the sharpness of mind brings some problems: Charlie understands that friends were not his friends at all (he was a subject of ridicule for them), and life is not so simple and beautiful as it seemed to him. Soon, he notices that the process has gone in the opposite direction - Algernon has become sharply stupid, which means that a similar fate awaits all participants in the experiment. In addition, Charlie has undergone mental changes - he is constantly haunted by the feeling that the stupid and awkward Charlie, as he was in the past, frowns at him from the corner at the most inopportune moments.
"The geographer drank the globe." Author: Alexey Ivanov
For those who have not watched the movie of the same name, it is recommended to read the book. Light humor only gives her charm. Meanwhile, a book about the tragedy of personality. Biologist Viktor Sluzhkin cannot find himself, he often drinks alcohol problems and rushes between finding good income (at the insistence of a grouchy wife) and work that he would like. The book is that each person is responsible for himself before the realities of life.

"Moron". Author: F.М. Dostoevsky
At first glance, Dostoevsky’s books are difficult to grasp. But, having penetrated their philosophy, one can discover the diversity of human destinies and characters.
The protagonist of this book is the 26-year-old Prince Lev Nikolayevich Myshkin, who seems an idiot to many because of his immediacy, openness, and naivety. He is like a child: sincerely loves everything he touches. However, upon closer examination, this person is a person with an extremely rich inner world. His feelings are strong and deep, whether it be love for Nastasya Filippovna, or friendly devotion to Parthen Rogozhin. During the novel, Myshkin will repeatedly prove to his readers his nobility and honesty. The book is about love, friendship and actions that a person decides for the sake of these two concepts. It is worth reading, because Dostoevsky’s style in describing people and events is unique in his own way.
