Brief biography and career of Maria Alexandrovna Smolnikova
On December 17, 1987, in Sverdlovsk (present-day Yekaterinburg), the future theater and film star was born into a family of passionate Melpomene fans. In the family, the girl has the famous artist Nikolai Kachinsky, whose paintings are exhibited in the Tretyakov Gallery. Maria herself loves to draw, and she can often be found with a pencil in her hands.
The creative atmosphere of the family and the genetic predisposition to beauty determined exactly the fate of Smolnikova. Mother found for her an experimental gymnasium with a theatrical bias, where a magical atmosphere reigned, which Masha still recalls with special warmth. Thus, in this educational institution, the girl received a multifaceted education related to the theater stage and even ballroom dancing.
And after the final musical performance, West Side Story, in which a talented girl played one of the main roles, she no longer had doubts about her further creative career. However, the path to the stage and the set lay through a series of difficult trials. After all, the failure of admission to GITIS and the work as a teacher of an extended-day group in his hometown, the subsequent fiasco with admission to all universities of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg the following year brought her to the local school of culture for two months, and then to Nizhny Novgorod. It was here, working for a year and a half in the Youth Theater, that Mary began to be professionally realized on the stage. During this period, she went on stage in two children's and one adult performances.
And then there was an experimental acting and scenographic recruitment of students at GITIS, study and graduation as the best on the course. Distribution to the "School of Dramatic Art" by Dmitry Krymov allowed the young actress to realize her talent, while staying almost in a homely atmosphere. Here Smolnikova takes real pleasure from what is happening on the stage of creativity and continues to work to this day.
The first major film debut was for Mary the film “Daughter” (2012), where she played a major role and was awarded several major awards in the nomination “Best Actress”. And a year later there was a truly stellar film work in the legendary "Stalingrad" by Fedor Bondarchuk. From that moment, Smolnikova became a recognizable and popular artist of domestic cinema. Today, many famous directors want to see her in their film projects, which filled the life of the actress with increased dynamics and a sweet taste of fame.
Currently, Maria Alexandrovna’s filmography should also highlight other films: “God has his own plans” (2012), “Kuprin. In the Dark” (2014), “The Other Side of the Moon-2” (2016), “After You” (2016), "Father's Coast" (2017), "Sparta" (2017), "Kilimanjar" (2018), "Gurzuf" (2018), "Playing with Fire" (2018).
