In 2012, the Eurovision music contest was held for the fifty-seventh time. The venue was the city of Baku - the capital of Azerbaijan. Thirty-six countries took part in the two qualifying rounds, and twenty-six performed in the final. As a result of the competition, awards were presented in several categories.
The Eurovision song contest is traditionally considered one of the most prestigious; millions of viewers watch its live broadcast every year. Dozens of performers compete for the right to enter the competition in national qualifying rounds, for many of them participation in the final is a victory. Especially for the competition in Baku was built an ultra-modern concert complex Crystal Hall, which can accommodate twenty thousand people.
Russia at Eurovision 2012 was represented by the Buranovsky Granny group from Udmurtia, who performed the song Party for Everybody and won a very honorable second place based on the results of the vote. The main sympathies of the viewers and the jury of the competition went to the Swedish singer Lorin, who brilliantly performed the composition Euphoria and scored 372 points. This is only slightly less than the record set in 2009 by the Norwegian singer Alexander Rybak - he scored 387 points at a competition in Moscow. The highest score - 12 points - Lorin put eighteen countries, including Russia. “Buranovsky grandmothers” scored 259 points, which is also a very high score. Serbia took the third place, its representative Zeljko Joksimovic received 214 points.
According to the results of the Eurovision 2012 contest, its winner Lorin received the main prize - “Crystal Microphone” and the “Best Performer” award. Peter Bostrom and Thomas Gisoni, authors of the Euphoria song, which brought success to the Swedish singer, were awarded the "Best Composer" award. The prize went to the hostess of the contest, Azerbaijani singer Sabina Babayeva. It was she who was awarded the first place by representatives of the media according to the results of their own voting.
Since the winner of Eurovision 2012 was a Swedish singer, the next music competition in 2013 will be hosted by the capital of Sweden, Stockholm.
