In a once popular, humorous song, words were heard about how good it is to be a general. However, in reality, military service is accompanied by dangers and risk to life. The fate of Vladimir Shamanov, the military general and hero of Russia, is a clear confirmation of this.
Curriculum Vitae
Everyone can become a soldier - this has been the custom since ancient times in Russia. However, not every fighter manages to reach the rank of general epaulettes and stripes. Vladimir Anatolyevich Shamanov was born on February 15, 1957 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents at that time lived in Barnaul. Father Volodya practically does not remember. Mother was actively involved in sports. Repeatedly won prizes in regional competitions in cross-country skiing and athletics. The child grew up and was brought up in a friendly atmosphere. From an early age he was accustomed to labor and accuracy.
At school, Shamans studied well. I always found a common language with classmates. On the street, he did not give offense, but was not considered a bully. He was actively involved in sports and was preparing for military service. Vladimir has always noticed how his peers live, what they dream about and what goals they set for themselves in life. Having received a certificate of maturity, he decided to get a military education. In 1978 he graduated from the famous Airborne School in Ryazan. By order, I left for the place of service.
Participation in hostilities
The general’s biography dryly lists the posts and places where he had to demonstrate martial art skills. Judging by the responses of fellow soldiers and comrades, Lieutenant Shamanov served not for fear, but for conscience. In all positions, the commander demonstrated the highest professionalism, quickly orientated himself in the operational environment, and took care of maintaining personnel. The career of the officer was uneven. He several times "stepped over" the steps of the career ladder.
In the spring of 1995, Shamanov was appointed commander of the unit and was sent to the Caucasus. Much has been shown and written about the fighting in Chechnya. In this context, it should be noted that for Vladimir Anatolyevich it was hard and responsible work. During the fighting, then still Colonel Shamanov was seriously wounded. He refused hospitalization and continued to lead the operation. Some biased journalists tried to accuse him of excessive rigidity and even cruelty. But the Chechens themselves respect him.
