Under Norwegian law, a permanent residence permit can be issued to an alien in several cases:
- when reunited with the family (presence of Norwegian parents or marriage with a citizen of Norway);
- cultural exchange, including study;
- obtaining a work permit and invitation from the employer;
- providing political asylum. Since the presence of Norwegian parents and political asylum are rare and complex options, most people who want to have to look for other options for moving.
2
The easiest and most convenient way to obtain a residence permit in Norway is through student studies. For this, it is necessary to enter the full-time department of any university, institute, technical school, gymnasium, art school or higher education institution recognized by the state. At the same time, you need to be able to finance your education throughout the term and have housing for the period of study. In this case, after graduation, you can apply for the right to work.
3
Obtaining a residence permit as an employee is much more difficult. To do this, you either need to have an invitation from a specific employer who is ready to take you to work and pay enough salary to live, or to prove your worth as a unique specialist or employee who performs particularly difficult or hard work. Options for seasonal agricultural work or dirty and hard labor that native Norwegians do not want to do are most suitable for non-specialists.
4
To move to Norway for permanent residence as a result of a marriage with a Norwegian, you must have a marriage partner who is ready to send an invitation and provide documents confirming your consent to enter into a marriage with a certain amount of annual income. To conclude a fictitious marriage, in addition to the potential partner, you will also need a substantial amount of money in the amount of about 10-15 thousand dollars. In addition, the immigration service will require evidence of the reality of the relationship.
5
It is important to consider that in order to avoid problems with the migration service, a work and residence permit must be obtained before entering Norway. For more than three months, only political refugees can stay in the country without these important documents during the consideration of their application. An application for a residence permit must be submitted to the Norwegian Embassy at least two months before the planned departure, since it will be examined first at the embassy and then transferred to the State Department of Migration Services.
