The future deputy minister of the State Duma of the Russian Federation was born in July 1970 in Leningrad. Since childhood, the boy dreamed of a military career. At the age of 14, Sergei became a cadet at the Nakhimov School, and upon graduation he entered the military higher education institution - the Kiev Morpolit (the highest naval school with a political bias).
In 1991, Zheleznyak received the diploma of a political worker, the rank of lieutenant, and was sent for distribution to serve in the Baltic Fleet, located in Liepaja.
The beginning of Sergey Zheleznyak’s military career came in the difficult political period for the country, when the army was practically falling apart. The young man decided to leave the service and go into business.

After the resignation from the armed forces, Zheleznyak began to try himself in the advertising business, and was not mistaken. In the position of head of department at APR-Grup, he did not work for long, received a promotion and became the executive director of the largest advertising agency. The leadership inclinations of a specialist were noted and appreciated, but in business Zheleznyak could not be fully realized, and he decided to try his hand at politics. He succeeded in this field:
- 2007 - graduation from the Institute of Management IMD in Lausanne,
- in the same year - election to the lower house of parliament,
- 2012 - getting a place of the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation
Sergey Zheleznyak put forward such legislative initiatives as banning profanity in the media and propaganda of non-traditional sexual orientation, regulation of content - films and music on the Internet, taxation of bloggers, indexation of pensions and others. Moreover, not all of them were perceived positively, both in the government and in society.
