Among the stamps of the USSR there are many copies that are very appreciated among specialists in this field. Prices for the rarest of them reach almost a million dollars. All the most expensive stamps of the USSR are put up for auction at Christristone in New York. Its owners are immigrants from the USSR, who came up with the main "highlight" of the auction - Soviet philatelic material.
The most valuable brand of the USSR
In 2008, at a Cherrystone auction, the USSR brand was sold for $ 718, 750. It was a limited edition copy that was released on August 3, 1935. It depicted the great pilot of the USSR - S.A. Levanevsky. The circulation was dedicated to the flight Moscow – San Francisco through the North Pole, an overprint informs about this.
By itself, this stamp is not considered rare, however, two sheets with an inverted overprint were mistakenly printed, among which only 10 were with a small "F". This airmail stamp with a mistake is considered the most expensive copy released in the USSR.
Stamp with a portrait of S.A. Levanevsky with an inverted overprint with a capital letter "F" is also considered a valuable copy, its price is about $ 200, 000.
