Model career and TV debut
Rebecca Romaine was born in November 1972 in the American town of Berkeley, located in California. Her childhood passed here.
In 1991, Rebecca began working in the modeling business, advertising swimwear. Then she was offered to move to Paris, where she lived for about three years.
Rebecca was the face of Victoria's Secret and appeared on the covers of such publications as Vogue, Elle and Harper's Bazaar. In addition, during this period, Romaine participated in the most prestigious shows, along with Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford.
In 1998, Rebecca Romaine tried herself as a TV presenter on MTV. Her program was called MTV's House of Style.
Rebecca Romaine as an actress
In the full-length movie, Rebecca starred for the first time in the same 1998 - she played The Bearded Woman in Bob Saget's comedy "Dirty Work". And the next year, the actress appeared in a short episode in the film "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Seduced Me."
In 2000, Romaine got the role of the blue-skinned mutant Mystic in the high-budget superhero film Brian Singer's X-Men, and this allowed her as an actress to reach a new level. Romaine managed to make Mystic - an ominous half-woman half-reptile, possessing tremendous physical strength - one of the most popular blockbuster heroines shot on comics. An interesting fact: for the shootings in X-Men, Rebecca had to bare almost completely: only the blue paint and small plastic covers remained on the actress.
In 2002, Romaine took part in the strange and confusing detective Brian De Palma's "Fatal Woman." Here she played two heroines at once - the criminal Laura Ash and the wife of the American ambassador Lily Watts. With her work in this film, Romaine convinced the public and film critics that she possessed not only an excellent appearance, but also a certain dramatic talent.
After that, Romaine again returned to the image of Mystic. She played this superheroine in the 2003 sequel, X-Men 2, and in the film X-Men: The Last Battle, ending this trilogy (2006).
Five years later, in 2011, another Marvel comic book came out - X-Men: First Class. And in it, as the adult Mystic, Rebecca Romaine appeared again.
Of course, in the filmography of the actress there are other noteworthy films, for example, “The Punisher” (2004), “Alibi” (2006), “Good deeds” (2012), “Phantom Halo” (2014).
It is also worth noting that in recent years Rebecca Romain has starred in many television series. In particular, it can be seen in the TV series Eastwick (2009–2010), King and Maxwell (2013), Librarians (2014–2018), Carter (2018).
Another area of activity of Rebecca Romaine is voice acting. It was she who voiced Lois Lane in the cartoons from DC Comics and Warner Bros "Death of Superman" (2018) and "Domination of Superman" (2019).
