Biography
The Cavalli family lived in a village a few tens of kilometers from Florence. Giorgio’s father worked as a surveyor, Marcella Rossi’s mother sewed clothes. During World War II, the father was killed by the Nazis. Marcella with two children moved to live with her father. Grandfather Cavalli is a famous artist Giuseppe Rossi, whose works are presented in the Gallery of Art.
Roberto studied poorly - the murder of his father caused psychological trauma to the child and he became isolated. The future fashion designer spoke late, learning at school was difficult. He was a second year student, failing exams.
To receive a diploma of education, Roberto was transferred to a private school. After graduating from high school, he needed a profession. Cavalli entered the institute, where his maternal aunt worked, tried to master the hotel business. But here, too, failure awaited him. The attempt to get an accounting education was also doomed to failure. Instead of studying hard, Roberto became interested in organizing student parties. In this field, his ability for originality and the invention of new trends for the first time showed up - dancing parties for students in the late 1950s were a fashionable novelty.
Cavalli made friends with musicians and had parties with their participation, providing them with advertising and making money from it. After being expelled from the institute, Cavalli's business was in jeopardy - he needed to rotate in student circles. For the sake of student status, Cavalli entered the School of Arts in the department of furniture fabric design.
Unexpectedly for himself, Cavalli became interested in the technique of applying prints to fabric. A new business fascinated him, and he again abandoned his studies. All that interested Cavalli in the classroom was the application of images on fabrics. He perfected the technique, selected the color scheme. In the future, Cavalli's corporate identity has become "animal" prints. Cavalli's passion for only professional skills and the backlog in educational subjects ended in expulsion from the school. Cavalli was again left without a diploma.
